Dinghy racing is run in conjunction with the neighbouring Essex Yacht Club. The season starts at the beginning of April, and closes with our “Brass Monkey” race in late December. A variety of races are held including longer distance runs, an evening series and a variety of shorter courses.
Sailing conditions also give variety with surf-able waves when the wind is in the southern quadrant. With a northerly, the wind is more variable (pond-like) coming off higher ground.
The club waters are tidal, giving up to 4 hours sailing time per high tide.
Open events include open meetings for Toppers and Topaz’s. Our Winter Series and Brass Monkey are also open.
Support boat and race officer duty are run by volunteers. More helpers are always welcome and training can be arranged to the RYA Level 2 Motorboat level and for Race Officers.
