Development Strategy
A development strategy for dinghy sailing and training was agreed at the July 2008 committee meeting. This can be found here: Development Strategy
The strategy includes acquiring club boats for the use of members. Initially, these will be used boats to control cost whilst demand is assessed. The first boats are available, a Laser 2 Fun, and a Minisail. If any club member could volunteer to look after these, it would be appreciated. In the meantime, please contact Dave Sherwin to book them, his number is in the handbook. The boats are in the birdcage, and the sails will be provided when the booking is made. Some degree of sailing ability is required, e.g. level 1 for light conditions. AS A CONDITION OF THE CLUB’S THIRD PARTY INSURANCE, A CLUB MEMBER MUST BE ONBOARD AND IN COMMAND AT ALL TIMES.
The Laser 2 is the “Fun” version and can be reefed. It will carry 2-3 people. The Minisail is designed as a single-hander, but will carry a reasonable sized adult or 2 smaller people.
Dinghy Sailing

A variety of dinghy sailing activities take place, both organised and casual. In addition to racing, members can explore the local inlets around Two Tree Island, or follow the shore to the east to Rossi’s Ice Cream Parlour. We also have “Ray” days where dinghies spend the day in the shelter of the Ray inlet, usually with the support of a cruiser or two. |
