Cadets is a great opportunity for young people aged 11 – 17 to socialise and have fun with other club members their own age. We meet on Wednesdays from 7:30pm till 9:30pm. Most evenings are just social, music and games (table tennis, pool etc.). Organised activities include Swimming and Ten Pin Bowling. Send enquiries to Ellen Jeffrey (Cadet Captain)

Cadet training

During the summer months sailing is organised when the tide is suitable on a Wednesday evening. Cadet racing is held every weekend that there is club racing with the cadets sailing shorter courses than the adult racing fleet. Our cadets sail Optimist, Topper, Topaz  and Laser (4.7 & Radial) dinghies with one or two of them sailing slightly more exotic boats!

Cadet Evenings Autumn Restart Date

Cadet evenings have now finished for the summer. There is a programme of junior sailing planned and details can be found on this page and on the training page. Cadet evenings will restart on Wednesday 9th September and will be held on each Wednesday thereafter starting at 7.30pm . The evening finishes at 9.30pm prompt and, if you are being collected by parents or friends, please ensure that you leave on time.

Planned Activities 2009

Planned activities for 2009 include sailing sessions, swimming, bowling, cycling, cooking and others in addition to the normal activities at the club on a Wednesday evening. Cadets are welcome to introduce friends to the club on any Wednesday evening. It is strictly one guest per member though! If you wish to bring a guest please speak to Nic Rivers beforehand in case a particular evening will not be suitable.

Cadet Treasure Hunt – Twotree Island

A very successful Cadet Evening on the 24th June saw some 22 cadets and sundry parents take part in the Cadet Treasure Hunt on Twotree Island. The answer to the clues was ‘PIRATES’. Well done to those who got it! (and BOO! to those few who tried a bit of piracy and sabotage to stop others getting it!!!).

Very many thanks to Nic and Lynn Rivers for the time and effort that went into organising this event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all those who took part.
