11th June
The Cadet evening on 11th June was a Cadet Sailing Session. 11 cadets in Toppers and Topaz were afloat by just after 6.30pm. A fun session was the aim of the evening and that certainly seemed to be the case! Doug Rivers kindly assisted with various of the more familiar training exercises such as follow-the-leader and tacking on the whistle. Various cadets then took it upon themselves to indulge in capsize practice as well as assisting others in going swimming! The session finished off with a game of waterborne tag rugby with Graham Rivers’ team just edging out the team led by Ellen Jeffries 2-1. Well done!
The session finished at 8.00pm and all cadets enjoyed themselves and improved their sailing skills while doing so. The date for the next Cadet sailing session will shortly be announced and non-sailors are also welcome, there will be at least one support RIB in attendance. Cadets should bring suitable clothing for going afloat, buoyancy aids can be provided.
The Cadet Evening on the 18th June will be a normal cadet evening with ball games and music, but in addition there will be a cake making/decorating session. Cake ingredients will be available but bring anything that you wish to decorate your cake with such as icing, sprinkles, jellies etc.
